MURDER MYSTERY PART TWO
We were so thrilled about having written a dramatic song about a gruesome murder and our unfortunate hero that we decided we'd continue his story in Murder Mystery Part Two. If you haven't heard the first part (I suggest you do) the narrator stumbles on to a dead girl and is implicated in the crime because he picks up the knife that was used in the murder. He is arrested... tried... and sentenced to death. That's where Murder Mystery ended.
In Part Two, our hero has escaped from prison somehow and is on the run from both the police as well as the real killer. One of the things I enjoy about recording these old songs we wrote as teenagers is that it allows me to once again be my juvenile self and sing songs in the mindset of someone who is seventeen years old. I would not write this song today but — I somehow like this song as something written by a couple of teenagers. We've tried to make it sound now as it did in our heads when we wrote it — complete with the corny lyrics and cheesy sound effects.
I think it would make a nice soundtrack for the end of a murder mystery movie. I enjoyed making the video as well — but WARNING some scenes may be upsetting to some viewers.
Hope you like it!

It is as plain as can be
The cops are out looking for me
I am just a man on the run
With no place to go
If they catch me I know what they’ll do
They’ll first beat me black and blue
Then put me in the can
And after that put me to death
Just leave me alone
Can’t you see I’ve done no harm at all
Just let me be
I only want to solve
This murder mystery
It is as plain as can be
The real killer is roaming free
While a poor girl lies
Murdered and dead in her grave
If he gets away I know what he’ll do
Next time he’ll kill a few
And a few days later
I know he’ll do it again
Just leave me alone
Can’t you see I’ve done no harm at all
Just let me be
I only need a little time to solve
This murder mystery
Just leave me alone
Can’t you see I’ve done no harm at all
Just let me be
I only need a little time to solve
This murder mystery
